Flighty the Fledgling
Flighty
So Apparently I forgot to post on my blog about this back in May (2012) So here it is now! I found this little baby blue bird when I noticed my dog sniffing around and pawing near the front porch, I rescued him from (Bosco, my dog) and brought him into my room, put him in a small cardboard box with a paper towel in it and started doing research on how to take care of a baby bird, and rescues I could bring him to. While doing my research I foundout that he probably wasn't abandon, he was a fledging (A baby bird that has just left the nest, and is learning to fly, their parents still watch over them and bring them food.) If the baby bird can grasp your finger and stay on it on it's own, and it can fly a shrot disance it's a flegdling, and the best thing to do is to release it into the forest closest to where you found it, so that's what I did, and thankfully I saw adult bluebirds around, so hopefully his parents found him and he's grown up okay.

The Tale of Jeffy...
This is what he looks liked..
Tonight I let my dog (Bosco) and my sisters dog (Jake) out of the house to run around and play as usually...but then I heard a disturbing noise. The noise of animals fighting and being attacked, the sound of an animal in pain. I looked out the window to witness a tiny baby raccoon laying in the driveway being bit and grabbed by the two dogs! My sister and I rushed out to get the dogs inside. We discussed what to do and decided I would get a towel to pick it up and she would go look up "how to rescue a baby raccoon".The baby raccoon was still moving it's mouth and blinking with it's cute little innocent eyes when I left to get a towel. By the time I came back the baby raccoon was lifeless on the driveway. We then had to throw him away like a piece of trash so the dogs wouldn't get to his body. You might think I'm being dramatic and "it's just an animal" but this was the saddest thing!! It was just a little baby..and yes I cried. This makes me want to dedicate my life to rescuing animals even more.I wrote this in memory of Jeffy...a baby raccoon that barely got to live.

The first picture looks like Kateri and the second looks like Kaya.
My sister, mom and I ended up bringing the two calicos we found and the one's (Kateri's) four kittens to the animal shelter. :)
Found Something...
So today I visited my sister Danielle's house and I looked outside through the glass door and saw a calico cat.I told Danielle and she said she's been trying to get her inside for awile but it was too afraid. So later that night while only me and my brother phillip are up I see her again sitting on the porch rail.I fed her some dog food and sat outside calling her for awile and eventually she came up to me.I then saw the other calico cat and I felt bad so I gave it a hamburger from the fridge. Then the first cat just ran inside! So I was thinking Dani wanted to get her inside anyway...so Phillip and I let her walk around and we pet her.She still seemed nervous but she's a really sweet cat.I decided to put her outside after about an hour because I didn't want Danielle letting Gemma (her dog) out in the morning without knowing cause Gemma would scare the Cat.Tomorrow I'm going to tell Danielle so hopefully she can keep her or bring her to the shelter and of course we'll take care of the other cat too. :)
I named them Kaya and Kateri. <3
